Delivered into Newport Docks on board the MV Stellaprima on 15 August 2000, 66514 was part of the second batch of fifteen Class 66/5 locomotives ordered by the Freightliner Group to replace their Class 47 and Class 57 fleet on intermodal freight services, as well as fulfilling haulage for their new Railtrack infrastructure contract. Since importation, 66514 has remained unnamed and has maintained the same base Freightliner livery of green and yellow, with minor logo changes proving the only changes.
